When is the 2016 PEI International Shellfish Festival?
Do not miss the 21st anniversary celebration September 15th-18th, 2016.


Where does the Festival take place?
The Shellfish party happens at the Charlottetown Event Grounds located in downtown Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. You can find parking at 360 Grafton street right across from the main entrance. The party doesn’t end here… take one of our shuttles to our participating restaurants to finish off your night. Don’t worry our shuttles will return you to our participating hotels for your safety. What are the hours of the Festival?
Thursday September 15, 2016 – Feast & Frolic Dinner 6pm-10pm.
Doors open at 5:30pm.
Friday September 16, 2016 – Doors open 11:00am – 11:00pm
Saturday September 17, 2016 – Doors open 11:00am – 11:00pm
Sunday September 18, 2016 – Doors open 11:00am – 5:00pm

Once I am inside, am I able to leave the tent?
Yes, you may leave and return, but you must obtain a wristband and it must be placed securely on your write for re-entry. Upon re-entry you will need to have a valid wristband for that particular day. Please note if you arrive after 7:00pm re-entry is not guaranteed and you may experience a wait time.


I’ve never attended a PEI international Shellfish Festival. What should I expect?
Be prepared for live Shellfish competitions, cooking demonstrations, and even a celebrity chef sighting or two. At night dance the night away at the biggest East Coast kitchen party, with some of Atlantic Canada’s best known entertainment. When you’re starting to crave Shellfish after taking in all the live competitions check out our Shellfish Pavilion for some fresh local Shellfish prepared on site.


How can I meet Chef Lynn Crawford?
You can meet Chef Lynn Crawford after her on stage culinary demonstrations on the main stage and at a designated cookbook signing during the Festival. Please check out our full schedule of events here as more details come available.

What kind of competitions can I expect?

The Festival showcases 8 live culinary competitions throughout the whole weekend with over $26,000 in cash prizes given out over the 3 days!

Garland Canada  International Chef Challenge
A fierce competition for $10,000, top chefs from across the world compete head to head in a black box competition.

International Chowder Championship
Some of the top chefs in North America and around the World will hit the main stage to compete for the title of chowder champion!

Motts Clamato Best Caesar in Town
Competitors show off their Caesar making skills amongst some of the best bartenders in own and take home the bragging rights of having the best Caesar in town, along with a cool $1,000 cash prize!

Oyster Grower of the Year
Oyster Grower of the Year competition gives the opportunity for professional island oyster growers (aquaculturists) to showcase their amazing farm raised oysters here in PEI. Come to thursday nights Feast & Frolic dinner for the opportunity to feast and over 10 varieties of PEI oysters, and you” even get to help crown the People’s Choice Award.

PEI Potato Chowder Championship
PEI Potato Chowder Championship is presented by the PEI Potato Board and will promise a good time for all competitors, as well as promote the many ways to enjoy potatoes, oysters, mussels and other Island shellfish.

Raspberry Point International Oyster Shucking Championship
The best shuckers in the world come to compete on the festival Main Stage to showcase their talents and PEI’s oysters on the half shell. This competition is sponsored by Raspberry Point.

Shiny Sea Oyster Shucking Championship
Cheer on the competitors as they vie for the chance to hold the PEI oyster shucking title championship.

Tie One On Mussel Competition
Competitors challenge themselves against the best in the industry in the art of tying buoys and socks! Watch them race against the clock in this head to head challenge.


What should I wear to this Festival?
Come prepared! PEI can bring unpredictable weather and remember, you are in a tent! Being located on the water can make things a bit chilly. We hope for amazing weather this September but dress accordingly. Feel free to break out those rubber boots, that rain coat ( fingers crossed it won’t be necessary,) and a warm sweater for those chilly Fall nights.


I want food and drinks! What do you take for payment?
Shellfish Bucks are available for purchase inside the tent at designated token booths or you can purchase them at the main entrance when you arrive.

Check out or full menu online here. Just a reminder that all food and drinks need to be purchased with Shellfish Bucks, available for purchase onsite.


I had a great night but lost my phone and wallet. What do I do?
Yes, you must have had a great night! Try our lost and found located at the box office onsite. If the Festival is over and you still haven’t found them email info@peishellfish.com and we will see if we can track them down during clean up.


Is the tent wheelchair accessible?
Yes, the tent is fully wheelchair accessible. Services include an accessible parking lot for those with government issued parking passes and accessible washrooms.


What is Fall Flavours?
The PEI International Shellfish Festival is a Fall Flavours Signature Event. Fall Flavours is a month long culinary celebration highlighting authentic Island tastes and traditions and takes place during September in communities across Prince Edward Island. How much are tickets?
Tickets are available May 24th, 2016

Advance:
Friday/Saturday $14.25 (+taxes and applicable charges)
Sunday $13.25 (+taxes and applicable charges)
Feast & Frolic $153.00 (+taxes and applicable charges)

I’m an AIR MILES collector. How do I purchase tickets?
Tickets are currently on sale beginning May 9th exclusively to AIR MILES Collectors through the Reward Program. Collectors can use their AIR MILES for Festival weekend passes and tickets to Feast & Frolic. AIR MILES Collectors will receive exclusive privileges at the Festival, just for bringing their AIR MILES card, including access to a VIP lounge. Do you offer any discounted tickets?
CAA members receive a 10% discount when purchasing tickets. Receive your promo code for a discount online at www.atlantic.caa.ca/shellfish or show your CAA card at the gates.

*Please note that the CAA discount ONLY applies to general admission (Friday- Sunday) tickets. CAA discount does not apply to weekend passes as we provide our best shellfish deal on weekend passes for you to Shellabrate all weekend long!


Are children able to attend?
Little skippers, children 6 and under are free! Our venue becomes 19+ after 8pm.


When are where do tickets go on sale?
Tickets will go on sale May 24th, 2016.

I forgot to get my tickets. Can I purchase them onsite?
Yes! You can purchase tickets onsite at our box office located at the Charlottetown Event Grounds. The box office will accept cash, visa, master card, and debit. Please note tickets onsite may be limited due to capacity, to be sure to not miss the party buy your ticket in advance. *There is a possibility for those purchasing tickets at the gates that there may be a wait to enter the tent.


What if the event sells out?
In the event of sell out, all advance tickets will be guaranteed entrance. Please check our website www.peishellfish.com or follow us on Facebook and Twitter for live updates from the tent to avoid disappointment at the gate if you have not purchased tickets in advance.


Where do I pick up my tickets?

When purchasing on tickets you will have the option to “Print Ticket” or “Pick Up Ticket”. Tickets can be picked up at the Eastlink Centre Box Office at 46 Kensington Road. All tickets purchased by phone must be picked up at the Eastlink Centre Box Office.


What is included in my general admission ticket?
General admission tickets include access to the Festival tent for all the fun including celebrity chef demos by Chef Lynn Crawford, autographs by Chef Lynn Crawford, competitions, and nightly entertainment.


Can I exchange my ticket(s) if I do not use them?
No refunds or exchanges including, but not limited to, failure of performer(s) to appear, changes in performer(s), or cancellation due to inclement weather.


Can I get a refund on my ticket? 
Tickets are final sale. No refunds will be awarded.


Travel Info

Where do I park/ Is there a shuttle?
Parking is $5.00. The parking lot is located across from the event site and be accessed off Grafton Street. Complimentary shuttle runs daily from the Shellfish Festival official hotels and downtown Charlottetown. The first 50 AIR MILES ticket buyers will receive free parking. I’m coming from out of town. Where can I stay?
Visit our hotel partners page for a full list of our participating hotels. The Rodd Royalty, Rodd Charlottetown, The Holman Grand, Rodd Crowbush and the Delta Prince Edward are located nearby. Discounted hotel rates will be offered when using promo code: SHELLFISH.

Or take the bus! Book a return trip with Maritime Bus and receive door to door transportation from your hometown to the hotel and the shellfish grounds. No parking fees! Visit www.maritimebus.ca to plan your trip.


Can I bring?

Can I bring my pets to the Festival?
No, pets are not permitted on Festival grounds, unless for service dog purposes.


Can I bring food or drinks into the Festival grounds?
No. No outside food or beverages of any kind is allowed. Once inside the Festival, you can purchase food and drink with your Shellfish Bucks. We have stocked bars with a selection of wine, beer liquor, and of course Mott’s Clamato Caesars. Hungry for Shellfish, we’ve got lots check out our menu here.


Can I bring a camera to the Festival?
Yes, snap a photo of the celebrity chefs, daily autograph sessions are available with the celebrity chefs. Check the schedule for dates and times. We’re not going to take your phone away. Why don’t you live tweet/ post on Facebook your photo to your favourite celebrity chef? Make sure to tag us with the hashtag #shellfish20th.


Can I bring seating (such as lawn chairs)?
Seats are not allowed in the tent- But don’t worry we have tables and chairs for you to take in all of the action! (Please note seating is limited, arrive early to grab a seat.)


 

Getting Involved

I am interested in volunteering for the Festival. How do I get involved?
We are always looking for new and enthusiastic volunteers. You can check out our volunteer page for more details. Eastlink is the volunteer sponsor of the Festival. All volunteers will receive a branded t-shirt, daily admission ticket and complimentary snacks and beverages during shift. Got a question about volunteer opportunities? Email info@peishellfish.com.


I am a musician. How do I apply to play at the Festival?
We accept artist submissions from performers only between October-April for the following years line up. Email info@peishellfihs.com with your request.


I am a media representative who wants to cover the Festival. How do I get a pass?
