The Prince Edward Island International Shellfish Festival announces lineup, details for its biggest party to date, the 20th Anniversary Shellabrations.
Charlottetown, P.E.I. – July 15, 2015 – Shellfish fans are in for the biggest kitchen party Prince Edward Island has ever seen as final details of the 20th Anniversary Shellabrations for the 2015 Prince Edward Island International Shellfish Festival, September 17 – 20, were announced today.
“Shellfish lovers are definitely in for the biggest party yet,” says Liam Dolan, Festival Chair. “We’ve made lots of great additions to this year’s festival. We’re culinary by day with celebrity chef demos and cookbook signings and intense competitions. Over $26,000 cash will be awarded during the festival. At night, we crank it up a little further with live music and amazing headliners that will keep the crowd on the dance floor.”
ECMA award winner Jimmy Rankin will have crowds rocking as the headlining act Friday, September 18. Joining Jimmy Rankin is Melanie Morgan, runner up on CBC’s Cover Me Canada and Vintage 4.0. Signal Hill will hold its traditional spot as the Saturday night final act. Recently opening for Rod Stewart, Irish Mythen, will be joining the 20th celebrations as well as Bang on the Ear on Saturday.
Capping off the weekend will be the grand finale – the 20th Anniversary Birthday Bash – on Sunday afternoon. CCMA award-winner George Canyon is expected to jam pack the tent for the official birthday celebration.

Festivities kick off on Thursday, September 17 with the Island’s largest dinner party, Feast and Frolic, presented by the PEI Fisherman’s Association. Culinary meets comedy when Food Network Canada’s Chef Lynn Crawford and Island comedian Patrick Ledwell pair up to host this Fall Flavours Signature Event.
Feast your way through Prince Edward Island’s largest “all-you-can-eat” oyster bar. Be sure to leave room for Kyle Panton’s International award-winning seafood chowder, a traditional shellfish feast served family-style loaded with bounties of Prince Edward Island. mussels, cherrystone hard shell clams, snow crab, potatoes and all the fixins, plus sweet Island-inspired desserts.

With $10,000 up for grabs, hearts will be racing as 12 top chefs from across the globe compete head-to-head as part of the Garland Canada International Chef Challenge. Think Chopped Canada meets real life. In this intense elimination cooking competition, each chef will be given 45 minutes to prepare, in front of a live audience and panel of celebrity judges, a shellfish dish with Prince Edward Island Shellfish as the main ingredient.
As one of the country’s fiercest and largest culinary challenges, there’s only one way to watch this all-out race against the clock. New for 2015, Access Passes will provide spectators with guaranteed seating to be front row and center for every nail-biting second of the Garland Canada International Chef Challenge. The Chef Challenge Access Pass also includes admission to the Festival tent and is available as a day pass or weekend pass.

Because of the cold, clean water, we have the ideal environment for our fishers to harvest the highest quality seafood in the world and our aquaculture companies to produce product that is second to none,” said Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries Alan McIsaac. “The International Shellfish Festival has become a signature event to showcase and promote our unique Island food brand and I hope that everyone gets out to enjoy this year’s great line up of events.”
