(Tuesday, August 23, 2016) The Prince Edward Island International Shellfish Festival takes place September 15 – 18, 2016 at the Charlottetown Event Grounds. A four day festival to celebrate Prince Edward Island shellfish, our people and our culture. The festival is a joint effort of the PEI Aquaculture Alliance and PEI Shellfish Association.
The epic round 2 battle for the World’s Longest Lobster Roll is about to take place at the PEI International Shellfish Festival in September. In 2015, the PEI Fishermen’s Association set out to break the record for the World’s Longest Lobster Roll. A new record was set in Shediac earlier this year at 106.2 feet. The PEI Fishermen’s Association is preparing to beat this and set the new record on Sunday September 18, 2016 with a roll approximately 116 feet long.

The Government of Prince Edward Island is a proud supporter of the PEI International Shellfish Festival – an event that continues to grow year after year. This festival is an incredible showcase of our world renowned shellfish industry. The seafood industry in P.E.I. contributes more than $366 million dollars to our provincial economy, and provides employment to more than 8,500 Islanders each year. As the provincial minister of fisheries, I encourage all Islanders and visitors to attend this year’s festival in support of our local seafood industry.
– Prince Edward Island Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries Alan McIsaac
