Restaurant: Greta Solomon’s Dining Room
Miriam Echeverría was born and raised in Veracruz, Mexico. It was here that she attended culinary school, discovered her passion for cooking, and initiated her culinary career by working in Mediterranean restaurants.
She made her move to Canada in 2008 and swiftly made her entrance into the Toronto culinary scene while cooking in Italian restaurants. As a former chef de cuisine at L’Unità Restaurant, Miriam was named one of the 16 best female chefs in the city and “One of the reasons to love Toronto” by Toronto Life magazine.
She is currently working as the Head Chef of Greta Solomon’s, a fine dining French Restaurant in the east side of Toronto.
Chef Miriam enjoys preparing meals with seasonal and local ingredients. Her inspirational dishes are the natural result of her creativity, knowledge, and connection with food.
She recently started organizing series of pop up events called Tribe Five Dinner focusing in vegan and vegetarian dishes involving five female chefs from different cultures. The group is bringing awareness to the issues of feminism, gender equality, and social and environmental responsibilities. Every event is partnered with a different charity and proceeds from that event are donated to the said charity.
