July 4, 2019 – Restaurants Canada will present the 2019 Shellfish Excellence Award at this September’s Prince Edward Island International Shellfish Festival. The province is brimming over with top-quality shellfish making for stiff competition. This award recognizes an Island restaurateur for exceptional service and promotion of local seafood. Last year’s winner, The Olde Dublin Pub, would certainly fulfill on the criteria to meet superior quality standards while effectively promoting and offering a wide variety of PEI shellfish.
Applications will be evaluated by a panel of judges selected by Restaurants Canada. Applicants must be a food service operator in Prince Edward Island, a champion of local seafood and initiatives, and offer an extensive selection of PEI seafood on its menu. The winning restaurant will receive a $500 cheque and a plaque presented by Restaurants Canada’s President Robert Sarjoo & CEO Shanna Munro, at the PEI International Shellfish Festival Main Stage in September. As well the winner receives the right to present Restaurants Canada’s Shellfish Excellence Award seal on their menus and marketing collateral. Restaurants Canada will also feature the winning PEI restaurant in a 2020 issue of “MENU”, Canada’s Foodservice Magazine and in a blog post on Restaurants Canada’s website.
