History

In 1996, a one-day shellfish-centric event was held in Charlottetown to celebrate PEI’s shellfish industry. That event has evolved into what is now known as the Prince Edward Island International Shellfish Festival, a four-day festival packed with culinary demos, celebrity chefs, delicious dining experiences, the best of the best potato seafood chowder and oyster shucking competitions.

PEI International Shellfish Festival continues to put Prince Edward Island on the Culinary Map

A signature event as part of the PEI Fall Flavours Festival, the PEI International Shellfish Festival continues to put Prince Edward Island on the Culinary Map by showcasing indigenous foods & PEI Food Experiences and by creating new opportunities to showcase PEI Shellfish and agricultural products.

As a joint effort of the PEI Aquaculture Alliance and the PEI Shellfish Association, the PEI International Shellfish Festival is organized by an active committee and under the project management of Versatile Management Group.

Vision: To create a world class festival that is an iconic culinary event for Prince Edward Island and a leading shellfish/seafood festival in North America.

PEI Aquaculture Alliance

The Prince Edward Island Aquaculture Alliance (PEIAA) was established in January 1998 as an umbrella organization representing the PEI Cultured Mussel Growers Association, the Island Oyster Growers Group, and the PEI Finfish Association. The Alliance is a non-profit association that provides a unified voice on behalf of its 200-plus members, including: mussel, oyster and finfish growers/processors, supportive government departments/agencies, and supplier companies.

Support. Promote. Grow

The Prince Edward Island Aquaculture Alliance was formed to provide focus for the Prince Edward Island Aquaculture Industry and to enhance industry prosperity through its development as an effective world competitor.

PEI Shellfish Association

The objective of the PEI Shellfish Association is to develop the industry of shell fishing and protect the interest of oyster fishermen in PEI. To encourage and promote the oyster industry and collect, circulate statistics, general information and other material which may be of assistance to the oyster industry. To promote research, development and education and to make recommendations to the Provincial and Federal Governments as well as conduct projects in oyster shellfish improvement.

Prince Edward Island Seafood

By winds. By tides. By briny waters that rarely forgive and seldom forget. This is our life and its one we are grateful for. “Not Humble” pays tribute to the pride and sacrifice of Prince Edward Island’s fishing communities and what they go through to harvest some of the best seafood in the world. It is a labour of love and this is their story; there are no actors here.

Versatile Management Group

Versatile Management Group Inc. (VMG) is Prince Edward Island’s leading marketing and events powerhouse. VMG was founded by its owner Tracey Singleton in November 2008 and now has a professional team of 8 that manage high profile culinary events and marketing campaigns across PEI.

VMG specializes in marketing, communications, conference & event management, concept development and overall project management.

VMG has been managing the PEI International Shellfish Festival since December 2010.
