HOW DID YOU GET STARTED IN THE ROLE THAT LED YOU TO COMPETE:
I was a bartender for 5 years in Vietnam before deciding to come to Canada for further studies. After completing school, I began working at Sea Smoke Restaurant and Bar in 2021. I learned about the Caesar cocktail competition through a co-worker who had previously won the second prize for the best national Caesar cocktail in Canada, sponsored by Mott’s Clamato.
BAR/RESTAURANT/BUSINESS YOU ARE ASSOCIATED WITH:
Sea Smoke Restaurant and Bar
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO COMPETE?
My passion for mixology and the desire to challenge myself by blending Southeast Asian flavors with Western influences.
WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO IN THE FINALS?
My cocktail is based on a Vodka infused with herbs and vegetables, ingredients commonly found in Vietnamese broth dishes such as Pho and Bun Bo. I aim to bring the essence of Vietnamese cuisine to Canada’s national drink, the Caesar. The cocktail also includes elements inspired by Sea Smoke Restaurant and an Asian fusion restaurant. I’m excited to elevate the traditional Caesar cocktail with my mixology skills, offering people a new and enjoyable version.
